The EXTRA balm rinse is absolutely amazing! This winter was very dry and tough on my skin. By spring, my skin was so dry it was flaking off. EXTRA has worked wonders. My skin is no longer falling off, but rather incredibly healthy-looking. EXTRA smells great too; it has a very citrus-like smell. Of all the products that I have tried for dry skin, EXTRA is by far the best working & best smelling!!I recently got a really bad sunburn and it helped to diminish that too.It looks gloopy, but doesn't feel that way on the skin. When I leave it on, it doesn't feel like I have anything out of the ordinary on my face, which I like a lot.

I have very dry, somewhat fragile skin and this is by far the best cleanser I have ever used. It cleans my skin thoroughly without stripping the natural oils. The consistency seemed very thick at first, but it is water soluble and dissolves make up instantly. And the smell is fantastic--like you are in a grove of tangerines. A treat for the senses!

Extra Balm Rinse is the most deliciously scented and soothing cleanser I have ever used. I don't think I will rinse my makeup off with anything else, ever! A little goes a long way, too, so the large size lasts a verrry long time! It is so soothing for skin over 40! It washes off beautifully, but leaves a subtle moisture on my face that leaves me with soft, smooth skin in the morning, never greasy or heavy. This balm is a small indulgence that is so very worth it. I highly recommend this product, especially if your skin feels dry. I use it all year long, but it is especially soothing and nourishing in the winter months!

The EXTRA Balm Rinse is a jar of gooey oil that smells like a combination of every citrus fruit you can think of. I was doubtful when I first tried it as my skin is super duper oily. Well, what dissolves oil best? More oil. I put only a little dab on and massage it well all over my face; as you work it in, the balm warms and liquifies. It rinses off completely with water and I haven’t come across any other oil cleanser that does this. It gets off every speck of makeup and gets my pores clean. My skin feels soft and cushiony after use. The scent is refreshingly delicious. This is now a “Holy Grail” cleanser for me and I replenish every time I run out (it takes a while to use it up).

I have normal to dry skin and have been looking for ages for a cleanser that leaves my skin soft and doesn't burn my eyes. Well, this is it. Just a bit on your fingers and apply all over your face, then wet your hands and finish cleansing.Rinses off with warm water and gets rid of all traces of makeup, mascara and gel liner included.The jar is large and it will last about 9 months if used daily.

A few years ago my skin was so dry that I was unable to wear any foundation. It would literally crack on my cheek . This facial cleanser changed my skin forever. No more cracking foundation. My skin is hydrated and soft. I love putting it on. It is immediately soothing. It has an old fashioned feel to it. Feminine. I'm not going to lie here, it can get costly. I absolutely love Extra Balm Rinse cleanser. I have super dry skin and have always had trouble finding a cleanser that would not leave me feeling tight after using it. I started using this product about two years ago and have used nothing else since. In addition to leaving my skin feeling super clean and hydrated, it has a fantastic fresh orange zest fragrance. I have this in a tube and really like the convenience of that size, especially when travelling. I don't see this product in a tube offered on the website and hope Bobbi Brown still carries it and will bring it online.

This cleanser got me washing my face again. I know that sounds gross. But sometimes after going out at night, I just crash when I get home. This cleanser is so easy, you out the cleanser on DRY skin, rub it around and then wash off... It removes a small step, but makes a huge difference! I received this in an 'Extra to Go' kit a few years back when my usually normal-to-oily skin was drier. It's my favorite of the Extra line & I purchased a full size once the "to go" one was finished.This is like zingy-orange scented vaseline, however, after massaging into skin & adding water it turns to a milky lotion & rinses clean - taking all my makeup with it. It's a splurge but lasts forever. I use this when my skin is feeling drier and have not had breakout issues.

This works very well for my dry skin. It removes all my makeup but doesn't leave my face feeling dry or tight like other cleansers I have tried. My face feels very soft and hydrated afterwards. It is excellent for travelling, since airplane air makes me drier than ever. As soon as I get to my destination I take this out and wash my face, and then apply a thick layer of moisturizer afterwards. It really helps get rid of the jetlagged look and to restore my skin.I would really recommend it to anyone withdry skin.

I love this cleanser. It smells wonderful, feels fantastic and does a terrific job of cleansing my skin without stripping it. I just wish there was a plastic jar instead of the glass jar. I think the glass jar is nice, it feels very "upscale" but it also feels scary in the shower! I realize this product comes in a tube, which is great for travel, but it is not the good value this jar is. I transfer a small amount every week into another container to use in the shower. Guess you could say I just want it all. And you'd be right! Which is why I use this cleanser!

In the winter, I feel like I have cleaned my face thoroughly but have left it well moisturized.One request I would make is that the container be made of plastic rather than glass. I love this product! I use it at night over my moisturizer for extra hydration! I live in California, where it is fairly arid and this really helps to hydrate my skin! I highly recommend it!Agree with other comments about the glass jar, though. Wish it came in plastic container so it was easier to travel with. But because it has become such integral part of my nighttime routine, I still take it with me, glass case and all!

Although I can see how this product is good for some people, my skin is not dry enough for the balm and too dry for the foaming facial cleanser. I absolutely LOVED the creamy facial cleanser and it has been discontinued!!! Bobbi...please bring it back!! The balm rinse might be a good night wash for me, but is way too heavy to use morning and night. Also, the packaging is not good for wet hands or use in the shower. I also don't like the fact that I have to dip my fingers into it. I much prefer a squeeze tube. Please Bobbi, I miss my creamy cleanser!

For my very dry, thin skin, this cleanser is amazing! Other cleansers leave my skin feeling tight and dry. This balm feels thick and heavy (and warm!) out of the jar as I spread it on my face, but wet hands emulsify it immediately and it becomes creamy and light. I even use it on my eyes to remove make-up. It never strips my skin; instead sit feels soft and hydrated, not greasy at all. Wonderful!

I was a little apprehensive when I decided to try this product at the recommendation of one of the Bobbi artists. I was looking for something more hydrating for the winter months but I've used cold creams and heavy cream cleansers before and they always leave your face feeling like it has a weird film on it. This cleanser doesn't. It feels great when you first rub it onto your dry skin because it actually warms up and when you wash it off, it doesn't leave your face feeling dirtier then before, only soft and supple. I do like the 2 in 1 oil cleanser better for when I have my full "war paint" on, because it takes all of the waterproof makeup off in a snap, but this is wonderful for those light makeup days or even as part of a morning routine before you going to put on your makeup. Love it!

This product is extremely easy to use and just washes off with warm water with no residue. All you need to do is get a little on your fingers, warm it up by rubbing it between your other fingers, then gently apply to your face. Here is where you have a choice. You could either rinse it off easily now with warm water or leave it on for 10-15 minutes then rinse it off with the warm water and it works as a hydrating mask. I really like the orange blossom smell too. I have had no facial breakouts since using this product too. Not too shabby!

I used to love, love, LOVE the balm rinse! Fantastic for sensitive dry fair skin. My complaint is that they changed the packaging. It used to come in a tube- easy to use, came through TSA with no problem (when you travel every week that's a HUGE thing), very sanitary (never had to put my finger back into the same pot). I can't buy it anymore because 1) I travel for work and the pot is too large to pass through security-- and I really don't want to spend the time glopping it into a smaller container over and over , and 2) I don't use any product where I have to put my finger over and over into the same container- stuff gets under your fingernails, and skin bacteria can contaminate the container. Then you have to start using a paddle to scoop out the stuff, and there's another thing to get dropped or contaminated in the shower. This is so sad-- the product really is fantastic, but whoever made the decision to change the packaging just lost a customer.

Mature. Don't you love that descriptive word for the skin of we who are 55 plus...as opposed to aging as example? But whatever we call it, most of us face (no pun intended) the challenges of skin that is more dry and more fragile as it ages. This is a great cleansing option for anyone with that kind of skin, at any age, and I'm so glad to have it available to me at age 56.I was pretty happy with the BB lathering tube soap, which is a great product, but decided to try the Balm Rinse for a little extra moisture. This Balm has so many great features...it goes on easily (just rub some between your fingers and then apply to your face - wet your fingers and massage it a bit to emulsify), rinses off completely with water (using your hands or a washcloth - whatever you like best), and it smells refreshing (like a breeze wafting through a citrus grove). But the "real deal' is in the result - the Balm Rinse leaves your skin feeling clean, soft and moisture-aaaaaahhhhhh-ized.Whether finishing your night time routine with a night time moisturizer alone or with intensive serum followed by moisturizer, the Balm Rinse cleanser is a good starting point. I think I've found the perfect fit cleanser for me for a long time.

Being a flight attendant and spending endless hours in a dry cabin can make my skin look awful by the time I get to my layover hotel. I adore Bobbi's makeup and got a sample of the EXTRA Balm Rinse with one of my purchases, and immediately bought the full size after trying it out.I use this only at night before I go to sleep, and I only have to use a quarter size amount so a little goes a long way. I warm it in my hands and apply it to my dry face. The smell is divine...like fresh citrus! After rubbing in in my skin for a few minutes I add a little warm water and rinse off. Beautiful, soft, moisturized skin!It takes off every trace of makeup I have on and leaves my skin perfectly clean and glowing.My only complaint is the glass jar is a little bit bulky and heavy to travel with, but I just transferred some into a smaller plastic container so it was an easy fix.Also, it may seem a bit pricey but the large jar lasts forever and you only have to use a small amount each time.I definitely recommend this!!!!

This is very dense; actually a proper 'balm'. It has a lovely lemon/citrus scent. A relatively small amount was required to thoroughly cleanse my face and neck (I ended up using an amount roughly the volume of the size of my thumb).The balm warms upon rubbing into the skin. I imagine this would be a lovely touch when used in colder months. The warming sensation was the end of the positive experience for me. There's no lathering or even mild sudsing action at all; at first I wondered whether my jar were perhaps old and had just turned inert since I noticed no pleasant "clean" feeling. After patting my face dry my skin did not feel conditioned (nor even over-conditioned or oily -- something I was afraid might happen since I have combination skin) but rather as if there were a residual film on my skin. I tried to use my hydrating tonic to remove all traces on the balm... but still I ended up having to re-washing with the tube soap.I also experienced no sense of "cushioning" or "plushness" or any of the luxury of the other skin-care products that have made me such a Bobbi devotee since I tried my first product (the Hydrating Eye Lotion which I still swear by). This product seemed to do nothing positive at all. Returned... for the very first time. If it had worked for me I would probably find it an awesome value for the price since that giant jar will obviously last for some time. And I must say that's a nice change from the current skimpy volume of BB product one gets for her money these days; other high-end cosmetic companies regularly provide twice the amount of product -- one fabulous french lipgloss is a perfect example -- for nearly the same price as BB. This has not always been the case. I don't buy her lipgloss anymore.

This cleanser is wonderful! At first I didn't see how this could work but it works beautifully. It takes off all of my makeup and leaves my skin so soft. The smell is so nice too. It does take some getting used to since it is so thick and a little goes a long way but I love it.

I have been using Bobbie Brown skin care for years. The Extra Balm Rinse is a new, but permanent addition to my daily routine. My skin feels clean, soft and moisturized but not greasy. The citrus sent is a nice wakeup but does not compete with my fragrance. Love this!!

pros:

This balm will take off all face make up and most eye makeup (so I like to use eye makeup remover 1st). It has a great citrus scent that is strong but I like it so it doesn't bother me. It leaves skin feeling smooth and moisturized...I think there must be oil in it. I've decided to just use it for drier months. Only a small about is need like a dollop about the size of a dime.

I finally got around to reviewing this balm. I have oily skin and would never have tried this if I didn't receive a sample. I later bought the full size. I love the smell and the texture. I use this in the winter, I love the outdoors in the winter but with the dry air and heat indoors my face gets a little on the drier side. If I get too dry, I start producing excess oil and then break out. This balm cleans without stripping and without being too heavy thus causing breakouts. I don't use it in the summer since my skin isn't dry all year long. If you are oily don't be mislead into thinking it isn't for you, unless you spend your winters in the tropics, this is a great winter product for keeping skin balanced.

I backpacked with this jar for three months. This was my one and only face skincare product for 90 days straight. Morning and night; dry and humid; rainy and sunny 90 days. It worked amazingly like a cleanser, toner and hydration moisture in ONE. The only thing it doesn't have is SPF value. But that doesn't stop me from claiming this citrus jar of yellow goodie is by far the most legendary product I've ever had.

Removes make-up, cleans and hydrates. The soft citrus smell is SO nice. This balm cleanser is so cool, my only suggestion would be for BB to include a spatula-type tool to scoop it up. Just a thought.

This is an amazing product ladies! It is so rich in texture, and once warmed up with the fingers goes on smooth. The smell is oooh sooo satifying. The citrus smell is invigorating & makes this product worth every penny. I use it at night to give my skin that extra moisture that it craves. I am t-zone oily so I rarely use it during the day unless I am taking off my make-up early. I use several Bobbi cleansers because I just like to change up sometimes & I don't believe in being obligated to one product (boring), & this was an excellent choice! I have had this jar for almost six months and it has barely went down.. Thanks again Bobbi!!!!

This magic potion makes me stick to my nighttime cleasing routine. Before I discovered this I would often get lazy when it came to cleaning my face at night, but as luck would have it I got a little sample jar of this and after using it for two weeks EVERY NIGHT...I decided this was a must purchase. It cleans beautifully and my skin NEVER feels dry from it, rather it feels so soft and moisturized. And the SMELL.....I ADORE it!!! It makes me look forward to washing my face. I use it with my clarisonic and my skin has never looked better!

Works Well With Combo Skin

I notice as I get older my combination skin is no longer able to handle the chilly windy winters in Northeast FL. Normally an oil spill in the summer my skin turns into a desert oasis in the winter. Washing my skin at night can sometimes be painful. Not with this magic in a jar. It literally melts away my make-up from the day and followed by my toner my skin is thanking me and rewards me with baby soft skin that is ready to face the day. This is definitely worth the investment if you're tired of your skin reacting negatively in the winter.

I purchased this product after trying many others for dry, irritated red skin. This is an amazing product and with the first wash I could tell a difference. Soothing, but a very thorough cleaning. I do wish they included a small spatula to remove the product from the jar.I have used Bobbi's products for many years and have never been disappointed. I have sensitive skin and heavily scented products irritate my eyes, but I did not have any problems with this product. Finally, I do not feel that every time I smile my face is cracking!!I am 60 years young with a youthful appearance thanks to Bobbi Brown.

I love this cleanser, leaves my 57 yr old skin soft and supple, I use this at night and one of the Nordstrom ladies showed me how to use with the Buffing Grains, mixed together for exfoliating so I keep this concoction in the shower and use it twice a week on face and chest area. After about a month of using it both ways, my skin has never looked better. Along with the serum and the rest of the extra line, I am sold!!!
